This is the second year that I have brought a group of Breeding and Genetics students from South Staffordshire College to Twemlows for a visit. He has proved on numerous occasions that he is a horse with a big future and is a valuable asset to British Breeding.
Successful international Grade A show jumper, who together with his rider Michael Whitaker was part of the British team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games as well as the 2015 European Championships and in the same year helped Britain win the CSIO 5* Furusiyya FEI Nations Cups at La Baule, Rotterdam and Rome.
This stallion was a stalwart of the French team, winning the Team Gold Medal as well as Individual Silver at the World Equestrian Games in 2002. Together with his rider Eric Navet, they also represented France at the 2004 Olympic Games, were French Champions in the same year and were key members of the French team, which won the Samsung Super League in both 2003 and 2004.
Big Star is one of the best showjumping horses in the world, with numerous high profile wins including two Olympic Gold titles under the renowned rider, Nick Skelton. Nick himself has referred to Big Star as “the best horse I have ever ridden”. It is also notable that this exceptional stallion is passing his athleticism and incredible temperament onto his progeny, making him a top choice for any jumping mare.
