This stallion’s allure lies in his versatility and ability to adapt and win at different levels, including Puissance, Grand Prix and Six Bar classes. He was part of the British Team at the 2006 World Equestrian Games and the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games as well as the Samsung Nations Cup Team at Hickstead in 2005. He won the Royal Windsor Grand Prix and was 2nd in the King George V Gold Cup in 2004 and 2005.
His sire Corofino I competed successfully internationally for Italy and is himself out of the well-known Corrado I, who was German champion in 1994 with Frankes Sloothank, himself quoted saying ‘that Corrado is good in a second generation breeding paper’, which is exactly the role he plays in Russel’s breeding.
His dam Adele bred 5 international show jumpers, including Coupe de Coeur, who was 3 times German champion with Ludger Beerbaum.
Some of his most notable progeny include Rodgerio ridden by Italian rider Emilio Bicocchi, Outcast ridden by Mennell Watson and Kilderry’s Joint Venture, who won the 6 year old final in Vilamoura in Spring 2016.
Russel II combines great temperament with huge scope and good looks.
