Biography

Purple Rain V.O.D.’s dam, Iana V.O.D., is a full sister to the stallion Kjento and a half sister to the chosen stallion Mowgli V.O.D.. Iana herself has passed a super IBOP test. In Purple Rain‘s high-performance damline, there are also the small tour horses, Evita (by Tuschinski),Zidana (by Krack C), Uno (by Jazz) and Rhapsody (by Lancet). Furthermore, the approved stallions, Lance(by Glamourdale) and The Onyx’s (by Glock’s Taminiau) also come from the same line. Purple Rain’s sire, the Vivaldi son Desperado N.O.P., is a successful sportshorse and breeding stallion who, under Dutch rider Emmelie Scholtens, has won World Cup qualification events and championship medals. He is the sire of 20 licensed sons and 2 Grand Prix horses, including the stallion Asgard’s Ibiza and American rider Alice Tarjan’s Grand Prix horse Jane. Desperado’s dam line has proven to be particularly exciting, producing several licensed stallions and international competition horses for both sport and breeding. The walk is pure four-beat and has good scope. Seen from the front, the walk is still a bit narrow at times. The stallion has more than sufficient impulsion in the trot, a lot of light-footedness and good scope. The trot shows good foreleg technique and an active hindleg that comes under and carries well. The canter has good scope, with good leg technique and balance. Purple Rain moves with a lot of flexibility, more than sufficient self-carriage and a good balance.
