Biography

Grey Tonic was already on everyone's lips after the first video of the PS Youngster Auction. He left the platform as the top price, only to then shine as a celebrated premium stallion and crowd favourite at the Redefin licensing. He impresses with his sublime appearance, with long lines, and his outstanding quality of movement with maximum shoulder freedom and an uphill way of going. His extravagant canter is reminiscent of his dam's sire, Secret. 2025 will be his first breeding season and we're already excited to see his first crop of foals next year. His sire, Grey Flanell, Gribaldi, impressed in every respect from the start. He was the undisputed main premium winner at Oldenburg, and from his first crop alone, he produced ten elite auction foals at an average price of €20,000. Ridden by Lena Hassmann, he was the best 4-year-old in the Pavo Cup, a Louisdor Prize finalist, won national Grand Prix competitions, and successfully participated in the World Cup stage. The dam, Secret Zone PS, carries the blood of the triple World Champion Sezuan through her sire, Secret, on her sire's side. Secret was the winner of her stallion performance test and Vice Federal Champion at the age of three, Vice World Champion at the age of five, and Federal Champion of Dressage Horses at the age of six. His offspring became top-priced horses at all auctions, Federal Champions, Champion Mares, and Premium Stallions, establishing their sire's worldwide reputation as a top-class riding horse producer. The subsequent granddam, Zantana, was sold at the PSI Auction in Ankum for €955,000 at the age of four to a renowned dressage stable in the Netherlands, where she has already achieved victories up to Grand Prix level under Marieke van der Putten. By the way, Zantana is already the mother of three licensed sons, including the former champion stallion Fürst Zonik PS, who won the S-level under Isabel Freese, and Debutant PS OLD, 2021 Oldenburg State Champion and multiple Bundeschampionat finalist. Her sire, Glock's Zonik, won team silver under Edward Gal at the European Championships in Rotterdam, taking eighth and sixth places in the Special and Freestyle, respectively. Great-granddam Sondra by Sir Donnerhall produced the licensed Pavo Cup winner and Olympic sixth-place finisher Glock's Total US under Edward Gal, the licensed Dante US, a winner at international level up to Inter I, as well as the licensed stallions Mister US, Lamborghini US, and the internationally successful Zaid, Grand Prix. Sondra also produced the Grand Prix winner Gossip Girl (Evelyn Eger) and the Inter II-placed Great Gatsby PS (Jessica von Bredow-Werndl), both of whom also have Grey Flanell as their sire. Great-granddam Contana, bred to Sandro Hit, produced the licensed Swagman, a Grand Prix winner under Kristy Oatley. Her daughter Viva Contana PS by Vivaldi produced the licensed Pavo Cup winner Extreme US.
