Biography
From zero to seventh place in the WBFSH ranking of the world's best dressage sires Totilas did not only break records in the dressage arenas. He also sets completely new standards with his heredity - which has placed him seventh in the WBFSH ranking of the world's best dressage sires. Three of his offspring from his first generations competed at the Tokyo/JPN Olympic Games, including Glock's Total U.S./Edward Gal/NED, placed sixth individually and Go Legend/Marlies van Baalen/NED, placed fifth with the Dutch team. Governor-STR/Adelinde Cornelissen/NED, double Vice World Champion of young dressage horses, was part of the fifth-placed Dutch team at the European Championships in Hagen a.T.W. The list of his offspring victorious at Grand Prix level is also getting longer and longer: Te Quiero SF/Christian Schumach/AUT, Glock’s Toto Jr. N.O.P./Edward Gal/NED, Birkhof’s Topas FBW/Victoria Max-Theurer/AUT, Genuine/Marijke van Giesen/NED and of course our Burg Cup and Louisdor Prize winner Total Hope OLD/Isabel Freese/NOR. The latter leads the crowd of almost 30 licensed sons of Totilas, which also includes Top Gear OLD/Isabel Freese, who came fourth in the Burg Cup and Thiago GS/Matthias Alexander Rath, who came sixth, as well as our German Championship bronze medallist Total McLaren/Jana Schrödter and the second most expensive Hanoverian premium stallion Take That, with a knockdown price of 370,000 Euros. Total Recall, the most expensive foal of all time, sold for 200,000 Euros, has already won international competitions with Matthias Alexander Rath. Total Ideal cost 105,000 Euros and Tout le Monde cost 90.000 Euros at the Vechta auctions. In 2019, Totilas also produced the Champion Filly at the German Foal Championships in Lienen. True Love OLD was second Reserve Champion Mare of Oldenburg, German Vice Champion and is successful up to St. Georges with Matthias Alexander Rath. Three world records and three gold medals at the World Equestrian Games – Totilas can only be described with superlatives. With his performances in the dressage arena, he has touched people far beyond the sport of dressage and ensured a previously unknown popularity. With Edward Gal, Totilas won Team Gold, Silver in the Special and Gold in the Freestyle at the European Championships in Windsor/GBR in 2009 and set world records in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle. Later that year, Totilas beat his own record in the Freestyle in London/GBR. In 2010, he won the World Cup final in ’s Hertogenbosch/NED. At the CHIO Aachen, he set another world record in the Special: the judges awarded the perfect score of 10 an incredible 28 times. In 2010, at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington/USA, Totilas won Team Gold and twice Individual Gold. Then Matthias Alexander Rath took over the ride and, in 2011, Totilas was the best horse of the German silver team at the European Championships in Rotterdam/NED. In 2012, he won two silver medals at the German Championships, in the Special and the Kür. In 2015, he won Team Bronze at the European Championships in Aachen. His sire Gribaldi was Trakehner Champion Stallion, victorious
