Biography
Tyson is noted for his strong character, extremely athletic canter and his lightning-quick reflexes over jumps. Tyson was a regular member of the Dutch A-team and was selected as the first reserve for the London Olympics. Looking at his pedigree, it soon becomes apparent as to where Tyson’s outstanding qualities were inherited. His sire is the world renowned Numero Uno – a top source of quality performance horses. After a successful competition career with European Champion Marco Kutscher, Numero Uno rapidly became one of the world’s leading sires, having produced champions in ability tests, stallion approvals and International showjumping competitions right from his first crop. Tyson’s damline is equally impressive; his dam Kicky Queen, an Elite Sport mare is sired by the legendary Voltaire. She is a sister to the international performers, Nirvana 1.60 ridden by Annet Willems (NED), This Lux 1.45 competed by Victoria Tachet (FRA), Zandor 1.40 under Ferry Wahyu (INA) and Calgary 1.40 campaigned by Emiel Richter (NED). Tyson’s grand-dam, First Lady, who is sired by Wisconsin (a son of the highly influential Nimmerdor) forms the base of this highly successful performance family. In addition to her top performing offspring, her daughters further highlight the strength and depth in the family; Lady Queen is the dam of the KWPN approved stallion Tadmus who competed up to1.60 level with John Whitaker; Olympic Queen has produced the KWPN approved stallion Edinburgh who is competing at 1.40 level and Pearl Queen is the dam of Athane, a 1.40 competitor and the approved Westphalian stallion Thagoras. Due to his busy competition schedule, Tyson has only covered a small number of mares during his breeding career so far; however one of his first products, Tyson Uno, is currently competing successfully up to 1.55 level with his young British rider James Smith.
